Thank you, Lisgar

After a long and exhausting journey back home and a severe jet lag and a no less severe adaptation to my every day life, I found time to write some lines to thank Lisgar Collegiate Institute for what this institution did for me during the past four weeks.

Firstly I would like to express my appreciation to my tutor, Robert Derry, who shared with me all his lengthy experience, materials, points of view and offered me the possibility of teaching Latin in his classes from the first moment. Secondly to Janice Isaac and Mark Meng who opened generously their Literature and History classes to me. Thirdly to the members of the English and Languages Department who helped me in every single thing and let me work in their office as one of them. Finally, to the directive staff and the rest of the teachers who opened their arms to me and who made me feel in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Education, however, would have no sense without students. I would like to mention specially Mr Derry’s Latin students: two classes of polite, kind, hard working and smiling teenagers who made my work easy and comfortable and who showed me their affection at the end of my experience. I want to express my gratitude to them and to say how I dearly miss them now.

To all of you, thank you.

Hello Fernando!

What a great tribute to Lisgar! The truth is that working with dedicated students in a great environment must have been a very gratifying experience. I share your opinion about the teachers and administration at Lisgar, they are very generous and hardworking as you mention in your blog.

I hope everything is falling back into place for you in your school in Spain!

Take care and hope we meet again, Emilie G.C.
